Planning a ride in Los Angeles County
Los Angeles County is really a few dozen towns stitched together by freeways. Knowing how they connect makes the difference between a calm ride and an hour of brake lights. Here’s what we’ve learned driving it every day.
Typical distances across the county
Our Woodland Hills office is about 25 miles from LAX. Pasadena is a similar distance from the airport, Long Beach is roughly 20 miles from Downtown, Santa Clarita about 35 and Lancaster closer to 70. On paper none of that sounds far. In practice the time depends almost entirely on when you leave, which is why we ask for your timing first and the address second.
The freeways that shape every trip
A few roads decide most journeys here. The 405 runs along the Westside and over the Sepulveda Pass into the Valley. The 101 cuts through Hollywood and across the Valley, the 10 runs east to west from Santa Monica to the Inland Empire, and the 110 links Pasadena, Downtown and San Pedro. Add the 5, the 210, the 134, the 105, the 710 and the 14 to the Antelope Valley, and you have most of the county’s traffic in one list.
Our chauffeurs watch live traffic and know the surface-street alternatives, like Sepulveda Boulevard when the 405 stalls or Riverside Drive when the 134 backs up. You don’t have to tell them, but you’re welcome to if you have a favorite route.
Sedan or SUV?
For one or two people with normal luggage, a luxury sedan is usually the right call. It’s quiet, comfortable and easy to park at busy curbs. Choose an SUV for groups of up to six, families with car seats, golf bags or a lot of luggage, or anyone who simply wants more room. If you’re not sure, tell us who’s riding and what they’re carrying, and we’ll suggest one.
Unincorporated communities count too
Plenty of L.A. County sits outside any city limits, in places like East Los Angeles, Marina del Rey, Altadena, Hacienda Heights, Rowland Heights and Topanga. Some booking apps struggle with these addresses. We don’t. Give us the street address and any gate or building notes, and the chauffeur will find you.
How to make pickups smoother
- Share your flight number for any airport ride, so we can track it.
- Add gate codes, building names or a business name for large complexes and studio lots.
- Tell us about events nearby. A pickup near Crypto.com Arena or SoFi Stadium on game night needs a different plan.
- Mention children, mobility needs or extra luggage, so the right vehicle shows up.
Why a local company helps
We live and work here. That means we know which hotel entrances are easiest for pickups, how long the Hollywood Bowl lot takes to clear and when the beach traffic starts on summer weekends. It also means you can call a real person at our Woodland Hills office any time and get an answer.
If you’re in the city itself, our Los Angeles car service page goes neighborhood by neighborhood. For the wider region, see all of our Southern California service areas.
