Getting around Los Angeles with a private driver
The city of Los Angeles covers 469 square miles, and its neighborhoods feel like different towns. Here’s a practical look at how a private driver fits into city life, whether you live here, work here or are visiting for a few days.
By the trip or by the hour
Most rides are simple transfers: home to the airport, hotel to a meeting, dinner to home. You book a pickup and a drop-off, and the price is set. If your day has several stops, hourly service is usually better. The chauffeur waits while you’re inside, and you never have to book the next ride. A good rule of thumb is that three or more stops in a day is a good reason to book by the hour.
Neighborhood notes from our chauffeurs
- Downtown. One-way streets, loading zones and event closures around L.A. Live. We plan exact pickup spots ahead of time.
- Hollywood. Hollywood Boulevard closes for premieres and events, so we often pick up on a side street and tell you where.
- Westside. Brentwood, Westwood and Century City sit along the 405. We time trips around the Sepulveda Pass whenever we can.
- The Valley. Ventura Boulevard is the main artery from Studio City to Woodland Hills. We know it well, since our office is right off it.
- Venice and Playa Vista. Parking is scarce and weekend beach traffic is real. A car service saves you both problems.
Not every famous name is part of L.A.
Visitors are often surprised that Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Culver City and Burbank are separate cities. Los Angeles wraps around several of them. It doesn’t matter for booking, since we serve all of them, but it explains why addresses can look confusing. Give us the street address and we’ll handle the rest. For trips outside city limits, see our Los Angeles County car service.
Airports inside the city
Two major airports sit inside city limits. LAX is in Westchester on the city’s southwest edge, and Van Nuys, a busy general aviation airport, is in the middle of the San Fernando Valley. Hollywood Burbank is just over the line in Burbank and is often the quickest option for the Valley, Hollywood and Los Feliz. Our airport car service covers all three.
Hotels, homes and offices
Most hotels have a valet area where chauffeured cars can wait for a few minutes, and our drivers know the routines at the big ones. For homes in the hills, tell us about narrow streets or gates. For office towers, let us know which entrance you’ll use, since many Downtown and Century City buildings have more than one.
Late nights and big events
Concert and game nights change the city’s traffic completely. Dodger Stadium, the Hollywood Bowl and Crypto.com Arena all have long exit lines. We plan pickups to avoid the worst of it, often meeting you a short walk from the venue where the car can actually stop. And because we run 24 hours a day, a 2 a.m. pickup is as easy to book as a noon one.
Comfort and peace of mind
Every ride is in a clean, late-model black car with a professional chauffeur. You know who’s coming and when, and the price doesn’t change with traffic or demand. That’s the real difference from hailing a ride: no guessing about the car, the driver or the fare.
