How car service works across Santa Barbara County
A county this long rewards a little planning. Here is what we ask before a pickup, and why it matters in a county shaped like this.
Pick the right airport
Santa Barbara Airport (SBA) is on the west side of Santa Barbara, near UCSB, and Santa Maria Public Airport (SMX) serves the north end of the county. Which one suits you depends on your airline, your fare and where the trip ends. LAX is the option for flights neither airport offers, and Santa Barbara is about 92 road miles from Los Angeles. Tell us the airport and the flight number, and the chauffeur follows the arrival.
Know the roads
US-101 is the main spine, running through Santa Barbara, past Gaviota and on to Santa Maria. Highway 154 climbs over San Marcos Pass from Santa Barbara to Santa Ynez, and Highway 246 links Lompoc with Solvang and Santa Ynez. We choose the route on the day, based on conditions.
Plan a wine country day
Santa Barbara County has seven American Viticultural Areas, including Santa Maria Valley, Santa Ynez Valley and the Sta. Rita Hills. A tasting day usually crosses more than one, so book a car that stays with you and let someone else do the driving.
Booking across several towns
Family events often mean pickups in Goleta, Lompoc and the valley. Send every address and the event time, and we’ll plan one set of cars that arrives together.
Trips that leave the county
Plenty of bookings end outside the county, such as a flight at LAX or a meeting in Los Angeles. The chauffeur drives the whole route on one booking, and the price you were given covers it.
Weddings and busy weekends
Spring and fall weekends are popular for weddings and tastings. Reserve once your date is set, and share the guest count so we send enough cars. A late change is easier to handle when we already know the plan.
Cars and seats
A sedan is comfortable for a couple or a small party. For families, groups, golf bags or cases of wine, ask for an SUV, which takes up to six with luggage. Need a child seat? Ask when you book and mention the ages.
