Getting around Monrovia by car
Local details shape how we plan each ride in Monrovia. These are the ones we weigh first.
Foothill Boulevard and Huntington Drive
Foothill Boulevard runs east and west through Old Town, and Huntington Drive sits to the south. Shamrock Avenue ties the two together, and the 210 follows the foothills for longer trips. Depending on the hour and the destination, we choose between the freeway and the boulevards.
Myrtle Avenue on a Friday
The Friday Night Street Fair & Market takes over the 800 block of South Myrtle Avenue from 5 to 9 pm. If you are meeting friends in Old Town that evening, give us the corner that suits you and the time you expect to leave. We plan the pickup around the crowd.
Trails above the city
Monrovia Canyon Park is at 1200 N. Canyon Blvd, and the Hillside Wilderness Preserve is run by the city with more than four miles of trails. People who hike in the morning often book the ride home as well, so the car is waiting when they come down.
Hotels and weddings
The Courtyard Los Angeles Pasadena/Monrovia is on West Huntington Drive. The Courtyard at the Monrovia Historical Museum, on East Lemon Avenue, is a city-rented space for events of 10 to 300 guests. For either, tell us the guest count and we match the cars.
Offices on Shamrock Avenue
Trader Joe’s keeps its corporate headquarters at 800 S. Shamrock Ave. Visitors flying in for meetings there often book a car from the airport to the door.
Next-door cities
Duarte, Arcadia, Bradbury and Sierra Madre are all near. A booking can start in one and end in another with no extra planning.
Airport distances
Road figures we checked put Burbank at roughly 23 miles, Ontario at about 28 and LAX at about 32. Which one is right depends on your airline, not just the mileage.
