Pick the right airport
Hollywood Burbank (BUR) and LAX are the airports people ask about most from Ventura County, and both are in Los Angeles County. Oxnard Airport (OXR) and Camarillo Airport (CMA) are county-owned fields for general aviation. Neither has scheduled airline service, so they matter for private flights, not airline tickets. Give us the airport and the airline, and the chauffeur watches the flight.
Know your roads
US 101, the Ventura Freeway, takes the Conejo Grade between Thousand Oaks and Camarillo. State Route 118, the Ronald Reagan Freeway, links Moorpark and Simi Valley with Los Angeles. State Route 126 starts at US 101 in Ventura and heads inland toward Santa Paula. Rush hours change the best route more than distance does, so we choose the route on the day.
Plan harbor and event days
The Channel Islands National Park Visitor Center is at Ventura Harbor, Channel Islands Harbor is in Oxnard, and the Ventura County Fairgrounds sit on West Harbor Boulevard in Ventura. Shows run at the Bank of America Performing Arts Center in Thousand Oaks, and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library is in Simi Valley.
