Getting around San Marcos with a private driver
The city spreads along the SR-78 corridor, with older neighborhoods near the middle and newer hillside areas to the south. A few notes on how we plan around it.
The 78 and its cross streets
State Route 78 runs through San Marcos, and exits such as Rancho Santa Fe Road, Nordahl Road and Las Posas Road are the ones people give us most. East of the city the 78 meets the I-15 in Escondido. Tell us the nearest cross street and we will settle the pickup spot with you.
Campus days
Cal State San Marcos is at 333 S. Twin Oaks Valley Road, and Palomar College is at 1140 W. Mission Road. Move-in, graduation and visiting-family days add traffic around both. We suggest naming a pickup point off the busiest streets.
Lake San Marcos
The Lakehouse Resort at 1025 La Bonita Drive has 144 guest rooms and hosts weddings, including ceremonies on its private island. A chauffeur can bring a wedding party, or collect guests from a hotel in town.
Hotels in town
Visitors stay at places like the Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites at 227 W. San Marcos Boulevard and the Hampton Inn at 123 E. Carmel Street. We can meet you at the front entrance at a time we agree on when you book.
Evenings out
Dinner in town or a night at the lake can end with a ride home, and a chauffeur means nobody has to watch the clock or look for parking. Tell us the address and the rough end time, and we confirm both at booking.
Rail and car together
The SPRINTER stops at Palomar College and Cal State San Marcos. Some riders take the train for one leg and book a car for the rest, or the other way around.
