Getting around Riverside with a private driver
Riverside is big, about 81 square miles of land, so the part of town you start in changes the plan. Here is how we think about it.
Downtown and the Mission Inn
Downtown is where the Mission Inn, the Fox Performing Arts Center and the Riverside Convention Center sit within a short distance of each other. The 91 exits at University Avenue and Mission Inn Avenue lead straight in. Give us the hotel entrance or the venue door and we plan the approach.
Wood Streets, Victoria and Arlington Heights
These older neighborhoods have tree-lined streets and a mix of homes and small shops. Tell us the exact address when you book, since some blocks are narrow and a clear pickup point saves time. Arlington Heights has larger lots and longer driveways, so mention a gate or a side entrance if there is one.
Orangecrest, Mission Grove and La Sierra
The south and southwest parts of the city are mostly residential. Guests here often head for Ontario airport or the 91 toward Orange County, so we plan the first leg to the nearest on-ramp.
UC Riverside and Canyon Crest
The campus and the neighborhood beside it draw parents, visiting speakers and new students. Send us the building or the hotel and the time you want to arrive. California Baptist University, also in Riverside, works the same way: give us the building and the time.
Trains and the freeway
The Riverside-Downtown Metrolink station is at 4066 Vine St, and the Hunter Park/UCR station is at 1101 Marlborough Ave. If you arrive by rail, give us the station and the train time.
