Getting around Dana Point by car
Dana Point is compact, yet the pieces of it feel separate. This is how we think about each one when we plan a booking.
The harbor side
Dana Point Harbor Drive ties Doheny State Beach to the harbor, Baby Beach and the Ocean Institute. If your plan includes whale watching with Dana Wharf or a beach picnic, tell us the meeting spot and the number of bags, and we choose the vehicle to match.
Downtown and the Lantern District
The Lantern District runs along Pacific Coast Highway and holds most of the local restaurants and shops. It is a good place for a car service, because the evening ends with a ride back instead of a search for a spot.
The Monarch Beach bluffs
Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club and The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel are neighbors on the cliffs, and Monarch Beach Golf Links, an oceanfront par-70 course, sits beside them. Guests staying there can book a driver for the airport run and a dinner out.
Heading out of town
John Wayne Airport is the closest airport, about 20 to 25 road miles away. Laguna Beach is roughly six miles up the coast. San Juan Capistrano Mission lies about four miles inland from Doheny State Beach.
Booking a group
Count your passengers and bags before you call. A party of seven or eight, for example, needs more than one vehicle, and we sort that out in the same booking.
