Getting around Arcadia by car
A handful of local details change how we plan a ride here. This is what we think through before the car leaves Woodland Hills.
The 210 and Huntington Drive
The 210 serves the city, and the Huntington Drive exit sits close to the hotels, the hospital and the racetrack. Depending on the hour and where you are headed, we choose between the freeway and the boulevards that run beside it.
Race days at Santa Anita Park
Santa Anita Park runs live racing in set meets and hosts other events through the year. On busy days we ask which entrance you want and when you plan to leave, then time the pickup so you are not hunting for the right car in a crowd.
Visits to the Arboretum
The Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden is at 301 N Baldwin Ave, south of the 210, and its grounds include the Queen Anne Cottage. Guests who plan a slow morning there often book the ride home too, so the car is waiting when they finish.
Shows at the Performing Arts Center
The Arcadia Performing Arts Center is at 188 Campus Dr and is run by the Arcadia Unified School District. For an evening performance we confirm the arrival time and the end of the show, so the return pickup is settled before you take your seat.
Medical appointments
USC Arcadia Hospital is at 300 W Huntington Dr. If you or a parent has a morning appointment, book both directions so the return is already arranged. Child seats are available on request.
Crossing city lines
Arcadia borders Sierra Madre, Monrovia, Pasadena, Temple City and El Monte. We pick up on either side of a line for the same booking.
Airport distances
Road figures we checked put Burbank at roughly 21 miles, LAX at about 29 and Ontario at roughly 31 to 35. Burbank is the shortest of the three, though the right choice depends on your airline.
