Airport car service in Imperial Beach, step by step
Almost everyone leaving Imperial Beach by air is headed for San Diego International. The notes below are how we plan the run when you call.
San Diego International
San Diego International Airport (SAN) is the airport people ask about most. Route sources give a road distance of about 15 to 17 miles from Imperial Beach, and the figure shifts with the pickup address and the route. Give us your airline and flight time and we set the pickup time together.
Starting from the beach
A pickup on Seacoast Drive is a different start from one on the far side of town, so we ask for the exact door. Beach parking is limited, which is one more reason to arrange the car ahead of time.
Starting from a hotel
Guests of Pier South Resort at 800 Seacoast Drive or the Hampton Inn & Suites at 771 Palm Avenue should name the entrance they will use. Checkout hours bunch up, so a booked time matters.
About the airfield in town
Imperial Beach has an airfield of its own, Naval Outlying Field Imperial Beach, also called Ream Field. It is a Navy installation for military helicopter traffic and is listed as private use with permission required. We do not offer service to it, and civilian flights do not use it.
Brown Field and private flights
Brown Field Municipal Airport (SDM) is a general aviation airport in the Otay Mesa community of San Diego. The city lists Air Center San Diego and First Flight Corp. as its fixed base operators, and the field has a customs inspection facility. If you fly privately, give us the operator and the aircraft details.
Leaving after a weekend at the beach
Visitors often check out, spend a last morning on the sand and then need to reach a midday flight. Tell us when your room is released and where your bags will be, and we build the pickup time around it. A booked car beats a scramble to find a ride at the curb.
Bags and car seats
The SUV takes six passengers and luggage. Mention golf bags, surfboards or a stroller when you book, and ask for a child seat if one is needed.
