Getting around Indio with a private driver
Indio covers about 33 square miles of land, so the starting point changes the plan. The notes below cover each part of town.
Downtown Indio
Downtown is home to the Indio Performing Arts Center on Fargo Street and the Coachella Valley History Museum on Miles Avenue. Give us the venue door or the hotel entrance, and we plan the approach.
Sun City Shadow Hills and the east side
Sun City Shadow Hills is a gated 55+ community in Indio, east of Sun City Palm Desert. Gated entrances need a name or a code at the gatehouse, so send us the street address and any gate details when you book.
South Indio golf communities
Heritage Palms, Indian Palms Country Club, Indian Springs Country Club and Trilogy at the Polo Club sit in the southern part of the city. Guests from these communities often ride to Palm Springs International or to dinner in the next city over.
Festival weekends
The City of Indio publishes a traffic plan for festival season that lists primary access routes, including Jefferson Street, Monroe Street, Avenue 48 and Highway 111 at Jefferson and Monroe. Streets and exits can change from year to year, so we ask where you are going, then plan the drop-off around the city’s current plan.
Interstate 10 and Highway 111
These two roads decide the shape of most trips, so we ask early where you are headed.
Most longer trips start on one of these two roads. Highway 111 runs through the valley’s cities and I-10 is the faster choice for the airport run and trips west.
